Signature of the first MoU between Carbon Footprint Italy and The Climate Registry

The first Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of the international network of carbon footprint communication programmes, Carbon Footprint International, has been signed.

The Italian Programme Operator, Carbon Footprint Italy, has signed the basic recognition agreement between The Climate Registry, with the purpose of promoting the cooperation between national Programmes Operators on carbon footprint.

This represents the first step of the mutual recognition process between national Programme Operators, as reported on the draft standard currently under development, the ISO 14029 on “Mutual recognition agreements between Type III Environmental Declaration (EPD) Programme Operators — Principles and procedures”.

This important goal should represent the first step towards the implementation of multi-lateral agreements between POs, that at the moment are only bilateral.
