Another 31 governments have announced yesterday to have taken up at national level the Paris Agreement, surpassing one of the two threshold necessary for the entry into force of the agreement.
And, in fact, it needs to be ratified by at least 55 countries, and the acceding countries have to be responsible of at least 55% of GHG emissions worldwide.
With the ratifications of yesterday, the number of countries has reached 60, with a coverage of emissions equal to 47,76%.
It would be sufficient, at this point, the subscription of EU, responsible for about 12% of global emissions. It is then expected that the Agreement can enter into force already at the next COP 22 in Marrakech.
