The Chinese National Energy Administration (NEA) has blocked the construction of more than 100 coal-fired power plants, with a cumulated power capacity of more than 100 GW, to reduce the national consumption of coal. Some of these plants were under construction and have been frozen, others have been slowed down to make them not working before 2025, when they will replace technologically outdated plants.
Last November, China announced the aim of delaying the construction or delete the realization by 2020 of coal-fired plants for a cumulated power capacity equal to 150 GW, stabilizing the overall power generation capacity at 1.100 GW, compared to 970 GW in 2015.
