Big news from ISO about the Circular Economy (CE)

There is great excitement for the development of international standardisation on the Circular Economy (CE). The second meeting of the ISO/TC 207 ad hoc working group dedicated to this topic (AHG on CE) was held on the 20^th and 21^st September in Milan, at the Accredia headquarters. The AHG, led by Daniele Pernigotti, was asked to summarise the state of the existing standardisation at ISO/TC 207 level and useful for the purposes of the CE, as well as areas where it is necessary to develop further technical standardisation. Pernigotti will report the outcomes of the works of the AHG on CE on November 3^rd in Foshan, China, to the CAG (Chair Advisory Group) of ISO/TC 207. The AHG on CE has established a liaison with the AHG 13 of IEC 111, which is conducting a parallel exercise in the field of electrical and electronic equipment and will in turn report its conclusions in October at the plenary meeting of IEC 111 which will be held in South Korea. In the meantime, on September 25^th the TMB (Technical Management Board), the highest ISO guiding body, took the decision, based on a recent international vote, to establish a new Technical Committee entirely dedicated to the CE. The decision, however, asks the nascent TC to establish a liaison with ISO/TC 207 to redefine the purpose of the future TC. Request that puts even more attention to the meeting of the CAG that will take place in Foshan, in November.
