Carbon footprint of products: important steps forward for ISO standards

The majority of national standard agencies, 35 to 7, have voted in favor of the CD of ISO 14067. “This is an important acknowledgement for the work done so far by the WG8”, says the convenor Daniele Pernigotti, “in an atmosphere always of great collaboration and participation by all the experts. It is well known that the CFP is such an important tool in fighting climate change, as well as sensitive at an international level. We must therefore continue to work in this climate of full collaboration in order to complete the development of the standard satisfactorily and within the established deadline”. The comments received on the CD will be discussed during the second week of June in Halifax, Canada, at the Plenary Meeting of ISO/TC 207. In addition, it has to be highlighted the recent positive vote for the transition to a DIS of the ISO 14064-3, the standard for GHG emission verification, the purpose of which was officially extended last year to the CFP verification.
