The image of China of a country only devoted to devouring the coal resources of the entire planet is now outdated. Today, according to reliable data from Statista published by the World Economic Forum, China is the country that invests more in the world on renewables with $1.9 billion in 2016, followed by Europe with $1.4 billion.
Investments that have led to the construction of Huainan City, the world's largest floating photovoltaic plant, equal to 40 MW, capable of fueling a small city. The site chosen for the project has a particular symbolic value as it is a flooded area in a region formerly destined to coal extraction.
It has the flavour of a remote answer, the news of few days ago about the project of realising in the US the world's largest private wind field, in general the world's second, by Invenergy.
800 turbines of the latest generation, 2.5 MW each, for a total installed power of 2,000 MW, equivalent to more than 3 medium turbogas power plants.
The plant will be operational in 2020.
