The oceans cleaning operation has started

He finally accompanied in the open sea the realisation of an idea he had among school desks, which was then at the center of his university studies: cleaning the oceans from the massive invasion of plastic waste, exploiting the power of nature. The principle is simple. A floating barrier 2 km long placed in favour of current, able to convey the waste to the center, which is collected in a container and then transported to land. Despite several criticisms questioning the functionality and effectiveness of the system, Boyan continued to work on his dream and on Saturday accompanied the first floating barrier from San Francisco Bay to one of the largest plastic storage areas in the Pacific Ocean. It is only the first of the approximately 50 barriers that Ocean Clean Up intends to place in the plastic accumulation areas, with the ambition to collect up to 50% of the plastic waste present in the oceans. Will it work? Boyan is firmly convinced.
